It's not just another Rioja

In a region that values long maturation in oak, Señorio de Arana does so for even longer, producing wines of unquestionable quality.

The La Rioja region is famous for its wines that are aged for many months in oak barrels and in bottles. However, Señorio de Arana goes beyond the area's designations and produces wines of unquestionable quality by letting them age for longer than the specified time. Production is carried out using a rigorous traceability system, in which each batch of grapes is monitored and controlled, undergoing a selection process before the fermentation process in stainless steel tanks. Once the alcoholic and malolactic fermentation is complete, the best part of the liquid undergoes an aging process in oak barrels lasting 15 to 30 months.

On 100 hectares, the winery produces varieties such as Garnacha, Graciano, Mazuelo and, of course, Tempranillo, the grape that is the symbol of Spain in winemaking. The limestone and silty soils of the vineyards and the protection provided by Monte Toloño provide ideal growing conditions for the perfect development of Tempranillo.

Most of the Señorio de Arana vineyards are located in the Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa sub-regions, the latter of which is unrivaled for wine production in Spain and one of the most important in the world. Located north of the Ebro River, the Rioja Alavesa vineyards are located at high altitudes and enjoy low temperatures, factors that contribute to the success of the cultivation.

Furthermore, the aforementioned limestone soil provides unique characteristics to the wines. Another aspect of the region's terroir is the average annual rainfall of around 500 mm. This amount of rain forces the roots of the vines to seek water from deeper levels in the soil, which ends up positively influencing viticulture. The Señorio de Arana team emphasizes, however, that the human factor is fundamental in the production of their wines.

Rioja

Spain

Rioja is one of the most important wine-growing regions in the world. Divided into three areas (Alta, Alavesa and Oriental), it has characteristics that make it ideal for wine production, such as its hot and dry climate. This region in northern Spain is known for its red wines with aromas of red fruits and aged in barrels, made from Tempranillo and Garnacha.
