Quinta Vale d'Aldeia 10 Year Old Tawny Port
Organoleptic Characteristics and Harmonization
Port wine is a fortified wine and the best known of the so-called “fortified wines”, produced in the Douro demarcated region. It differs from still wines in that it has peculiar characteristics, such as a high alcohol content (in this case 20% vol.) and a wide variety of styles. The Port in question is a gem produced by Quinta Vale d´Aldeia, more precisely in the Meda region, where the climate is warm and temperate. It surprises with its rich aromas, with a high persistence in both smell and flavor. It has a pine nut color (reddish-brown) and great clarity. It was produced from the rigorous selection of the best wines aged in wooden barrels, which gave it a more complex and smooth style. The combination is Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and TCão. The intense aroma is characterized by ripe fruits such as figs and dates combined with a delicious touch of honey. In the mouth, it is tasty, smooth and quite generous. We can taste notes of spices, dried fruits and nuts (hazelnuts, almonds, macadamias, walnuts). It has round tannins and a persistent and elegant finish. Pairing: It is quite common to drink Port as an aperitif in Europe, but it is rare to accompany the fortified wine with a dessert, as here in Brazil. In this case, the choice is yours! Try it alone, with mature and even blue cheeses, toasted almonds or choose to serve it after meals. Pair it with dried fruit desserts such as cakes in general. If you like cigars, it is worth playing around. Serve at 17°C, in glasses suitable for port wine or dessert wine, that is, those that are smaller and narrower at the top. It is worth remembering that, for the pleasure of connoisseurs, a bottle of Port, once opened, will maintain its qualities for at least 10 days. This example is ready to drink, but can be consumed, still at its peak, until the end of 2028.
