Organoleptic Characteristics and Harmonization
Chateau Kolarovo was founded in 2009. It is a small boutique winery located among the magical southwestern slopes of South Sakar, near the town of Harmanli and named after the village in which it is located. The wines are the fruit of the winery's winemaker Iliana Koeva, an engineering and technology graduate with a specialization in Napa Valley and many years of winemaking experience. Megalit Syrah is a powerful and expressive wine, made from the best plots of Syrah. The vineyards from which the wines were harvested are among the oldest in the Balkans, located on the southern slopes of Sakar Mountain, in the Maritsa River Valley, facing south, southwest and southeast. The wine was aged for 18 months in new Bulgarian oak barrels and second-use French barrels. To better preserve the characteristics of the Terroir, the winemaker chose not to filter the juice. It has a ruby color with dense tears that denote good body. The nose, rich in aromas, is marked by fruits such as ripe plums and cherries, nuts and chocolate. In the mouth it is lively, smooth and well-balanced. Fruity notes accompanied by soft tannins, smoky touches and spices fill the palate, adding complexity and balance. It has a persistent, silky and elegant finish with a refreshing mint finish. Pairing: Excellent with good food. Serve with cheeses, risottos, pasta with cream sauces and grilled meats with smoked vegetables, especially game. Enjoy at 18°C in smooth, crystal-clear and large glasses. The wine is ready to drink, but can be enjoyed at its peak until the end of 2023.
