Hocanska Vranac Barrique Golden Harvest
Hocanska Vranac Barrique Golden Harvest
Organoleptic Characteristics and Harmonization
The Hocanska estate is located in Kosovo, a country on the Balkan Peninsula, in the region of former Yugoslavia. In 1990, with the war, the country's wine industry was in a bad way, but after years of hard work, reconstruction is consolidating and Kosovo wine is gradually gaining strength and recognition. Very rare here, this exotic example was produced in Velika Hoca, a village in the Serbian enclave of the Metohija region, famous for its viticulture since ancient times. This region has a continental climate, with hot summers and harsh winters. This is a varietal of Vranac, a native grape variety exclusive to the Balkan Peninsula, which was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels and matured in the winery's cellars for over a surprising 5 years before being released to the market. In the glass, it has an intense ruby color with distinct aromatic characteristics, certainly acquired over time. The nose is marked by ripe red and black fruits, interspersed with delicious caramel. The palate is extremely pleasant, elegant, with velvety tannins and just the right amount of acidity. It shows richness in notes ranging from cherries and blackberries to sweet spices such as cocoa and vanilla. After aerating for some time in a decanter, clear hints of red plum and coffee give strength to the drink, making it especially distinctive with a warm and very persistent finish. Pairing: Surprise your friends by serving this very rare example alongside tapas, cold cuts, spicy risottos and various pastas. Roast lamb with grilled vegetables also goes well with it. Enjoy at 18°C in smooth, crystal-clear Bordeaux glasses. We recommend prior aeration in a decanter for 40 minutes. The example is ready to drink, but can be enjoyed at its peak until the end of 2025.
