The world of sweet wines promises many surprises, and this wine is one of them!

The Pinot Blanc grapes for this wine remained on the vine until Christmas. Some of them were affected by the Botrytis fungus, which gives the wine the famous “noble rot”. Only sweet noble wines have this richness of aromas and enormous complexity.

Visual: Light golden yellow.

Smell: Fine aroma of honey, stone fruits and apricot.

Palate: Fresh and elegant acidity, which makes this sweet wine particularly noble and appetizing.

In harmony with nature

Love for winemaking and ecological balance are commitments made by the family winery, and the result is sophisticated wines appreciated internationally

A mighty plateau stretching along the left bank of the Danube River for over 30 kilometers describes the Wagram region in Lower Austria. This is where Heiderer Mayer, a family-run winery that has been in operation since 1884 in the municipality of Baumgarten am Wagram, is located. A true love for winemaking and ecological balance are commitments made by the owners throughout their almost 140-year history. The result is fine, fruity wines that are appreciated internationally.

Since 1990, the company has been run by Helmut and Gabriele Mayer, supported by their sons Stefan and Reinhard. The farmland totals 25 hectares, including the Bergthal and Draxelgraben vineyards. The grapes produced include the white varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Welschriesling, Moscatel, Roter Veltliner, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as the red varieties Zweigelt, Saint Laurent and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Unique features The Wagram region is influenced by the Pannonian climate, which is characterized by very hot, sunny days interrupted by cool nights. This combination creates wines with a pronounced fruitiness and elegance. The predominant soil is formed by loess, a fertile sediment composed of clay and sand, rich in fossils and minerals. There are even loess walls, formed by the wind in prehistoric times, up to 20 meters high. In some vineyards, however, sand and gravel dominate.

Preserving the typical character of each grape variety to produce high-quality wines that reflect regional characteristics is the family's main goal. To achieve this, care begins with pruning in winter, continues with cutting in summer and continues until the harvest. The long experience in the sector is combined with the instinct and sensitivity of the producers, as well as the use of new methods and work in harmony with nature, resulting in higher quality products each year.
