Cline Cellars Viognier is vegan and uses incredible sustainable practices in its production. This is a fragrant and expressive wine with a surprisingly elegant finish.

Composed of 92% Viognier, 7% Chardonnay and 1% Pinot Gris, this wine comes from three different soil types. The Sonoma, Lake County and Mendocino areas together form California’s “North Coast” appellation.

Most common in the Rhône Valley of France, there are only three thousand acres of this grape planted in America, most of it grown in California.

Incredible sustainable practices are used for its production, such as sheep and goats to exterminate weeds, reuse of organic materials, ground organic rocks to spread minerals and nutrients, solar panels and even the participation of owls and hawks for ecological control instead of the use of pesticides.

No animal products are used in this wine. This means there are no protein fining agents. Instead of egg whites, gelatin and other ingredients, blending and pressing grape skins are used to balance the tannins.

This Viognier is full of flavor, with good weight of fruit and spice and very elegant.

Visual: Straw yellow with golden reflections.

Smell: Fruits juicy tropical fruits such as apricot and orange.

Palate: Tropical fruits are confirmed, with notes of apricot and tangerine. It is a full-bodied wine, with a refreshing and slightly sharp acidity.

Pairing: Enjoy as an aperitif or with soft cheeses (brie), mushroom risotto, white meats, seafood, grilled salmon and spicy foods.

Respect for nature above all

Commitment to continuous improvement of sustainable practices is a company differential that is reflected in its extensive and award-winning wine portfolio.

Sonoma County is aiming to become the first AVA (American Viticultural Area) to be 100 percent sustainable, and Cline Family Cellars has already earned its certification, which recognizes a commitment to continually improving sustainable practices from grape to bottle. Built on a passion for winemaking and rooted in respect for the land, the family-owned company was founded in 1982 by Fred Cline.

The winery’s Green String cultivation method combines timeless techniques and modern technologies to promote and enhance biodiversity, activity and biological cycles in the soil, which is as versatile as the region’s climate. It encompasses actions that minimize air, land and water pollution and optimize productivity by harmonizing interconnected systems. The effort focuses on reducing harmful ecological footprints and producing wines that reveal the generosity of these complex and perfect ecosystems. The result is an extensive and award-winning portfolio.

Eco-Friendly Measures Cline Cellars has adopted a number of eco-friendly measures. Instead of using herbicides, 1,500 sheep and 500 goats roam the vineyards to remove weeds. Instead of using harmful pesticides, birds of prey and beneficial insects control pests. Cover crops, reusable organic matter and ground volcanic rock naturally fertilize and enrich the soil.

Another difference is that no animal products are used in the brand's wines. Instead of egg whites, gelatin and fish glue, techniques of mixing and pressing grape skins are used to balance the tannins. The winery is also one of the first to adopt solar energy.
