Organoleptic Characteristics and Harmonization
The Struma River Valley is one of the most promising wine regions in Bulgaria. In the extreme south of the country, where the climate is Mediterranean and there are many hours of sunshine per year, lies the Via Verde winery, a family project that began in 2013. The wines in the “Motif” collection are complex, of the highest quality, with emphasized varietal characteristics and a powerful structure. This example was made with the native Early Melnik grape variety, harvested and selected manually, from high-altitude vineyards with a yield of only 500 kg per hectare. During the process, the juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels. The result is an intense wine with a unique character. In the glass, it reflects a beautiful, impeccable ruby color. The nose is exuberant and complex, delivering notes of vanilla and milk chocolate, interspersed with strawberries, ripe plums and spices. You can also feel an unusual toasted touch, reminiscent of dulce de leche candies. The palate is attractive, rich, with present tannins and a velvety sensation. It reveals great acidity that makes us salivate and encourages us to take another sip. The fruity flavor imitates the smell, giving way to floral touches and giving us a long and tasty finish. A delicious wine, the kind to taste without rushing, enjoying every nuance it offers. Pairing: great to accompany good food. Try it with cheeses, pastas with ragu and red meats. Try it with tagliatelle with duck leg in its own sauce, spectacular. If you prefer something more everyday, try it with lasagna Bolognese and a good Sunday barbecue. Enjoy at 18°C in smooth, crystal-clear, large glasses. A 30-minute decanter will do it a lot of good. The specimen is ready for consumption, but can still be tasted at its peak, until the end of 2024.
