Grape Angel Premium Viorica
Organoleptic Characteristics and Harmonization
The fact that Moldova has a wine industry comparable to that of major Western countries is something that Brazilians have recently discovered. In the southwest of the country, close to the border with Romania and the Danube River delta, lies the Valul Lui Traian region (named after the so-called “Walls of Trajan”, which were the fortifications of the Byzantine Empire built in the Roman province of Moesia), one of the three denominations of origin for Moldovan wine. Founded in 1977, the Imperial Vin group is one of the region’s leading producers, producing a wide range of wines. The Grape Angel line is the winery’s true calling card, and proves that it is possible to combine well-made wines with an affordable price and impeccable presentation, with a highlight being the 3D label with the figure of an angel holding a bunch of grapes. Grape Angel Premium Viorica is a varietal of this fantastic white grape, which was developed by the Research Institute of the country's capital (Chișinău) in 1969, from the crossing of two red varieties: the French Seibel and the Italian Aleatico. The project aimed to develop grape varieties that could produce good wines and that were also resistant to the very cold continental winters of Moldova. The result was magnificent, as the newly created variety enriches the wines with bold, intense aromas, full of refinement and elegance. It is an aromatic variety, which can be vinified both dry and in the form of high-quality sparkling wines. The wine has a beautiful straw-yellow color with golden tones, very bright and clear. It has an intriguing aroma of basil, notes of tropical fruits and spices. The palate is full, well-structured, with citrus fruits in the aftertaste. It is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 10ºC, accompanied by fish dishes, seafood or cold appetizers and snacks, preferably using Bordeaux glasses. It is ready to drink, but can be enjoyed, still at its peak, until the end of 2024.
