Organoleptic Characteristics and Harmonization
Moldova has a wine industry comparable to that of the main wine-producing countries in the West, a fact that Brazilians have recently discovered. In the southwest of the country, close to the border with Romania and the Danube River delta, lies the Valul Lui Traian region (named after the so-called “Walls of Trajan”, which were the fortifications of the Byzantine Empire built in the Roman province of Moesia), one of the three designations of origin for Moldovan wine and located on the same parallel as the main wine-producing regions in the world, such as Bordeaux, Tuscany and Napa Valley. Founded in 1977, the Imperial Vin group is one of the region’s leading producers, producing a wide range of wines. The Grape Angel line is the winery’s true calling card, and proves that it is possible to combine well-made wines with an affordable price and impeccable presentation, with a highlight being the 3D label with the figure of an angel holding a bunch of grapes. Grape Angel Cabernet Sauvignon & Feteasca Neagra (the latter, an emblematic red grape from Romania) 2019 vintage is a blend that combines the body of Cabernet Sauvignon with the exotic and spicy flavors of Feteasca Neagra, aged for 6 months in French oak barrels, giving it a complexity that is only commonly seen in more expensive and evolved wines. In the glass, it has a bright and clear ruby color. The nose shows ripe wild fruits such as blackcurrant, leather, as well as tertiary notes of clove and caramel. In the mouth, it reveals excellent acidity, demonstrating good body and structure, characteristic of the grapes that make up the blend, in addition to a long aftertaste that highlights the multiple notes of fruits and spices. Pairing: great with grilled red meats, especially a ribeye steak, an entrecôte or a picanha, as well as other meats or pasta with demi-glace sauce or even hard cheeses. We recommend tasting at 18°C in smooth, crystal-clear, larger Bordeaux-style glasses. The wine is ready to drink, but can be enjoyed at its peak until the end of 2024.
