Organoleptic Characteristics and Harmonization
A few years after Portugal joined the European Union, the wine sector finally began to receive investment and Portuguese wine once again gained worldwide prominence. The hiring of consultants, the mapping of vineyards and investments in new, modern equipment are some of the factors that contributed to this new phase of success. This is exactly the story of Divinis, created in 2006 with the purchase of the former Cooperativa Ourém. This label pays homage to Mécia Lopes de Haro, Dona Mécia, who was queen of Portugal for a few years in the 13th century. It is a blend made with the international varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah with the Portuguese Alicante Bouschet and Touriga Nacional. It aged for a long 16 months in French and American oak barrels. On the nose, it revealed aromas of fresh and ripe black fruits such as blackberry, currant, cassis and plum, cocoa, dark chocolate, vanilla, sous bois and notes of cigar box, toast and leather. On the palate, we have a very balanced wine, with firm and ripe tannins and great acidity. Flavors of black fruits, semi-sweet chocolate, vanilla, roasting and hints of leather. To pair it with noble cuts of beef roasted on the grill. Guaranteed success! The wine is ready to drink, but can still be enjoyed at its peak, until the end of 2024.
