Antawara Gran Reserva Carmenere
Antawara Gran Reserva Carmenere
Organoleptic Characteristics and Harmonization
Antawara Wines is located about 100km south of Santiago. The winery benefits from the fantastic terroir of the Maipo Valley, with diverse soils and microclimates perfect for the production of quality wines, in addition to vineyards also planted in the traditional Colchagua and Maule Valleys. Antawara also has modern winemaking technologies and French and American oak barrels for aging its wines. This wine is another of the great examples that is part of the Gran Reserva line. It was made with 100% Carmenére from the Maipo Valley. Before the winemaking process, the grapes were carefully selected so that only the perfect fruits were used, guaranteeing an excellent result. When served, it has a beautiful ruby color, of great intensity and clarity. Dense tears run down the side of the glass, demonstrating great structure. Aged in French oak barrels for 12 months and rested in the cellars before going on sale, it is smooth and quite complex. The nose is exuberant and is marked by intense aromas of red and black fruits such as ripe cherries and plums. There are also notes of vanilla and oak, certainly inherited from the barrel aging. In the mouth, it has good body and reveals mature tannins combined with an intense flavor of ground black pepper and red bell pepper. Hints of tobacco are also present along with the fruity flavor, as well as coffee. It has great acidity and is elegant and well-balanced, delivering a persistent and tasty finish. Pairing: This is the perfect wine to accompany good food. Try it with smoked cold cuts, sausage risotto, seasoned pasta and roasted red meats, especially game, spaghetti with ossobuco ragout and oxtail with soft polenta and watercress. Enjoy at 18°C in smooth, crystal-clear Bordeaux glasses. We recommend aerating it in a decanter for 35 minutes before serving. The specimen is ready for consumption, but can still be tasted at its peak until the end of 2025.
